Breast Cancer Care is here for anyone affected by breast cancer. We bring people together, provide information and support and campaign for improved standards of care. We use our understanding of people’s experience of breast cancer and our clinical expertise in everything we do.
Our volunteers are at the heart of Breast Cancer Care. You could be one of them.
We are currently looking for outgoing and proactive people with a good knowledge of their local community to help us raise money and awareness of our work. Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, you can make a real difference to the lives of people affected by breast cancer. From raising money, to letting people in your community know about how Breast Cancer Care can help, there are opportunities for everyone.
Start a fundraising group
If you can spare a few hours a month to set up your own group, we would love to hear from you. It’s a great excuse to get together with your friends, family or colleagues and raise money to support people with breast cancer. We will work with you to help you establish your group and provide you with ideas for fundraising from fundraising collections, sponsored walks and bike rides to jumble sales, quiz nights, arts shows, duck races, balls and much, much more!
Join a fundraising group
Fundraising groups raise money in their local community and spread the word about who we are and what we do. Groups work together as a team to organise fundraising activities in their local area, and act as local advocates for Breast Cancer Care. It’s easy to join an existing group, and it’s up to you how much time you want to give and how you want to fit it around other commitments. Contact your local fundraising team for more information.
'I was already volunteering for Breast Cancer Care's services team, and in July last year our group came together after we were introduced by Jay from our local fundraising team. Our latest project is a Ritz-style high tea event for 120
people, and we’ve set ourselves a fundraising target of £3,000.
'We love meeting up, debating and planning our fundraisers. We laugh so much, but on the other hand we’re also very serious about the quality of our events, and making money of course! We all get very excited when we have good news, for example when one of our group’s contacts agreed to sponsor our high tea.'
Jane, Cardiff Fundraising Group Leader
Other ways to make a difference
If you’ve got a couple of hours a month to spare, you could help us spread the word about who we are and what we do by giving talks in your local community. Or if you enjoy being part of an event you could help at a fundraising collection in your town, distribute collection tins and pin badges, or lend a hand at events near you. You may even get involved with friends and set up your own fundraising group.
For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Nina Dawes, Area Fundraiser for London & the South on 020 7960 3585 or via email helen.cameron@breastcancercare.org.uk
