Every 11 minutes someone is diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. We want to be there for every one of them; this October you can help raise the money Breast Cancer Care needs to help people affected by the disease by bringing them together, providing them with information and support, and campaigning for improved standards of care .
By raising awareness of breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we can remind thousands of women to be breast aware, which can ultimately lead to earlier detection and better results from treatment. You can help spread the breast awareness message by ordering our Your breasts, Your health publication or DVD.
Every product sold and fundraising venture we promote raises money so that we can continue providing our free services. Our helpline and website are a lifeline to the thousands of people who contact us every year with fears, concerns and questions about breast cancer. We don't receive statutory funding so we rely wholly on the generosity of our supporters.
This month you can help by organising a Pink Friday ; it's so easy to set up and get your friends or colleagues involved. Your Pink Friday can be anything you want (and it doesn’t just have to be on a Friday!). We’ve got loads of ideas to get you started, or simply order your fundraising kit now , full of posters, balloons, games and more to help you raise money at your Pink Friday.
We also have a range of partnerships throughout the month, with a whole host of exciting products for you to buy that pledge donations from sales straight to us. For the first time this year, we are also partnering with the web search engine Ask Jeeves; by simply using Ask Jeeves during October you can show your support by setting a themed homepage skin, taking part in the quizzes or adding a tribute on the tribute homepage, all of which converts to donations for us. Visit Ask.co.uk to show your support.
Our flagship Fashion Show takes place on Wednesday 7 October in London, featuring 25 inspirational models, all of whom have themselves had a diagnosis of breast cancer. Late tickets might still be available, check here to find out. You could also jump out of a plane to show your support, or get training for a marathon , take a hike up Ben Nevis or an adventurous trek along the Great Wall of China .
With so much attention on breast cancer in the media this month, if you or a family member is affected you could find it a difficult time. Please remember that the helpline and discussion forums are there for you if you want someone to talk to.
