I have a piece of cartilage in my hip ready for nipple reconstruction. I had a diep on 27th September. Before the op I saw a lady who had had the nipple reconstructed using the cartilage and it looked really good with the tattooing. My PS says that the procedure can be done under a local anaesthetic. My ps does a lot of breast recons and says he has used this method for some time.
I had mine done at the time of recon and mast, they took a peice of skin from my back and mad it into the outer nipple forgotten what its called I am waiting for it to either be tatooed or a stick on one.
Thanks ladies. I've just discovered during my pre-op today that I too have a bit of cartiledge on my hip for the nipple recon. Duh! They could have told me that before. I felt a lump on my hip bone about three weeks ago and was giving it a while to go down before mentioning it. Turns out it's for my nipple recon! We had a good laugh about that one.
