We have been reviewing our services recently in the light of your comments on the discussion forums.
As private messages appear in threads the moderation and facilitation team will continue to read them as the system makes it difficult for them not to do this. However, from now on we will not edit, or moderate private messages. The only exception to this is clinical misinformation where we believe a member may be at risk from incorrect or dangerous information. This means that you may exchange personal details in private messages and put links to any site.
We will also reinstate the service by which we will allow members to swap email addresses through the moderator. If you wish to do this just email the moderator with the user name of the person you wish to correspond with, we will then gain consent/ decline from the user on your behalf.
It is important that I point out here, that any information or relationship that takes place outside of the Breast Cancer Care website is the sole responsibility of the individual, and Breast Cancer Care will not act upon any information that is not visible on the public website.
We hope this will improve the quality of our service to you.
Thank you so very much. It means so much to be able to correspond with others in a similar predicament - the world is not quite so lonely!! Take care Anne

I was really pleased to read about these changes back in February, but am becoming more concerned recently because i have heard that links to other sites are still being removed from peoples 'whispers' by the Moderators. Could we please have some reassurance that ALL moderators are aware of this change in policy?
Only this week I sent a 'private' message including a link to another site only to find the whisper removed a few days later with no explanation. I'm quite upset about this as my post was in response to someone in desperate need of friends living and being treated in her locality.
Its the first time that I've read this info. despite it being put out initially in Feb. it may be my fault that I've missed it but could the initial info that appears at the top be places as ' sticky ' for a couple of weeks? If it has already appeared in this form then apologies for not seeing it.
Can i ask what exactely are the links to other sites being referred to here? I can hazard a guess and maybe its something the owners of the 'other site' need to take up personally with BCC. There is plenty of room on the net for BC sites and people only have to google to find them, something i think most of us would be capable of. The recent Facebook post was removed but it didnt stop many of us joining and enjoying the Buddies on there.
I think its wrong to delete someones message and not PM them though and i have to say on BCC the one or two messages i have had deleted have always been followed by a PM from the mods and a acceptable reason.
Just wanted to say how much i enjoy this site, now its got the Pm facility and we are allowed to exchanged email ads, we are planning a get together here in Liverpool. I know some dont like chit chat but its a great way or relaxing on here and a laugh.
