Is there a time out on these forums. I've tried three times to post this morning( longish one) and when I press add comments I get a message saying i haven't signed in yet I have. Wondered if it was my computer or something else. Not had this problem before. Any help?
The system will time you out as a security measure, I tend to do the same as Karen and copy and paste before pressing Add your comments if the post is long. Please let me know if can be of any further help.
I think it only time outs when you are in the section to post a comment if that makes sense - otherwise yes I remained logged in but I think that is different.
I've had the same experience as Dawn. When I've signed in and something has cropped up and I leave (sometimes I forget to go back for hours0 I'm still signed in. If Karen is right and we are timed out when making posts but not at any other time it seems silly to me. Surely the time out should be the other way round.
I just tested the theory and Karen is right. If you start a post and get distracted, return to complete it then yes - it times out, even though you remain signed in to the forums. So the time out is on what you post in the message box, not the time you stay logged in on forums.
I stay signed in but can never get long messages to go through - three shortish paragraphs maximum, or it just goes back to the 'start new discussion' page. Perhaps my broadband is too slow, but it does stop me rambling too much!!
