Metastatic breast cancer

What is metastatic breast cancer?

Metastatic breast cancer is breast cancer which has spread to a distant part of the body, most commonly the bone, the lungs, the liver or the brain.

There are many terms used to describe metastatic breast cancer such as secondary breast cancer, advanced or stage 4 breast cancer.

At Breast Cancer Care, we use the term secondary breast cancer and our website sections and publications on secondary breast cancer are relevant to anyone affected by metastatic breast cancer.

Visit our secondary breast cancer page to find out more.
