How can we help?
What we do
We have been certified as a producer of reliable health and social care information.
Isolation
Sharing your experiences with other people who are in a similar situation can help you feel less isolated and encourage you to talk together about how you are feeling. There are many different ways of obtaining this support and you can find out more in our services section.
There may be local support groups in your area where you can meet other people with breast cancer. You can look at our map of services to find a support group near to you.
You may prefer to speak to someone who is specially trained in helping people deal with feelings of isolation and the emotional problems they can bring - for example, a counsellor or psychologist. Your breast care nurse will be able to advise you on what professional support is available in your area.
Younger women
Being diagnosed with breast cancer at a young age can be a particularly isolating experience and can mean making choices about your future far sooner than you may have expected.
Breast Cancer Care offers a range of specialist services for younger women:
Younger Women’s Forums are two-day residential events for up to 40 women from across the UK, who meet up and share their experiences of breast cancer. There are guest speakers, workshops, wellbeing sessions and discussion groups that guide you through a wide range of topics specifically related to younger women with breast cancer. The forums provide high-quality information on essentials such as treatment, fertility, intimacy and relationships, lymphoedema, exercise and more. You can also find out about healthy eating and nutrition in relation to breast cancer.
Our One-to-One Support service can also put you in touch with a trained volunteer who was diagnosed at a similar age and who can share their experiences and understanding over the phone.
You can also join our online community (discussion forums) to post and read messages and meet other people affected by breast cancer.
