How can we help?
One-to-one support
Whatever the question, concern or issue, people affected by breast cancer can find talking to someone who has been there a great source of information and support. Our One-to-One Support Service puts people in touch with a trained volunteer who’s ready to share their experiences and understanding over the phone. It gives people with breast cancer a chance to talk openly away from family and friends with someone who understands what they are going through.
To become a One-to-One Telephone Support volunteer you need to have had a personal diagnosis of breast cancer, have been diagnosed as a gene carrier or have a partner who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer.
‘It helped me so much to have someone to talk to one to one. I could talk about all the things that were worrying me, and Catrin knew what to say. I liked the fact that I could set the pace and choose things like the time of the calls and what we’d talk about. There’s no pressure and you can stop using the service whenever you want to.’

‘By sharing my own experiences I can help other women – they’re often relieved to find out that other people go through the same issues and it’s not just them. I get as much from providing one-to-one support as I hope I give to other people. It’s so nice to be able to make a difference.’
