5 Year Check Up
Had it last Tuesday, unfortunately a bit of a let down as I wasn't discharged from my breast clinic. The surgeon I saw is sending me for an ultrasound as he wants to get the lumpiness of the scar checked out. So looks like I'm not quite out of the woods just yet, so close to Christmas as well and I keep thinking back to Christmas 2006 which was 6 weeks after I was diagnosed.
Fingers crossed it's just scar tissue or fat necrosis, don't know how I will feel if it's local recurrence. I was looking forward to booking myself on a new training course for my job starting in Jan, but I've put things on hold till I get this sorted out.

Sorry to hear this, Cherub. Just when you thought you were getting 'the boot'.
I'm sure it'll be nothing to worry about and they are just 'making sure', but, I know it's still a worry. Even though, deep down, we think it's nothing, we are still worried sick until we get the 'all clear'.
Let us know the outcome.

They sent me an ultrasound appointment for Dec 21st, but I'm trying to get an earlier one via my breast care nurse. She said she feels if it was anything serious it would have been ordered as urgent, but this seems more routine. She also said they give the result there and then. Just want it over and done with as I haven't had a Christmas I have truly enjoyed for 6 years now - my dad died the year before I was diagnosed, a few weeks before the Christmas.
Hello Cherub
just note to wish you luck. I'm nearly at the same stage as you and the 5 year anniversary of my diagnosis is this month. My scar is also extremely lumpy snd the radiologist looks carefully at it each time I have an ultrasound to make sure there's no recurrence.
I hope the time before your ultrasound passes quickly for you.
best wishes

I have managed to get a cancellation for tomorrow morning. Glad to be getting it out of the way whatever the outcome - I just feel if there is anything going on I would rather know now as 3 days before Xmas. OH is quite worried about going with me, but the funny thing is I feel relieved and quite calm.
