Baby after two lots of chemo!

Hi all

I posted on the Younger Women's forum a while ago that I was pregnant after two lots of chemo and thought I would share the good news that my lovely baby boy was born two months ago.

I was diagnosed with triple negative grade 3 at age 31 and again in the other breast at age 35. (Now aged 41). FEC, radio and DIEP reconstruction the first time; Taxotere and SGAP reconstruction plus Zoladex the second time.

If you are a younger woman who thinks you have lost your fertility I'm here to say you might not have done! I feel so blessed that after everything that happened in my thirties, it has all turned around. I never in a million years imagined I would even meet someone, let alone get pregnant naturally (and very quickly) and have a wonderful baby.

Don't give up hope - miracles do happen!

Helen

Hi

I met Madrid (Helen) through this site when I was diagnosed the first time at the back end of 2005. She was going through her second battle at the time. She was an amazing inspiration to me and 'held my hand' through my treament.

We were both single at the time and shared our dating disasters as well as moaning about treatment (or celebrating managing sex without the wig coming off) and I can't thank her enough. We did actually meet up and have remained firm friends. She came to my wedding in 2009 and I shall be going to hers (with or without hair depending upon my treatment plan) this summer of 2012.

She's amazing and the birth of her little boy after two cancer battles is of great comfort to those of us young & foolish enough to still want motherhood after our battles! Anything is possible and she deserves all the luck she's had with a beautiful baby boy and a husband-to-be.

Awww, that's such fantastic news, congratulations, so happy for u. My kids are grown up now but i can imagine the worry of some of the younger ladies on here who think they may never be able to have children due to their treatment. Your lovely story proves that's not always the case & im sure it gives them some hope. Enjoy your beautiful son x
