Blogs and blogging

There are lots of blogs out there written by people affected by breast cancer, and I know some of you have linked to your blogs in your profiles.
So if you read a particular (breast cancer related) blog and think it's good, post it here and let people know why you like it.
If you write a breast cancer related blog, and you think it might be interesting to other people here, why not post it here - perhaps with a note about why you started blogging?

This is a great idea - I am a Scottish woman living and working in Asia, and my treatment is in Bangkok, so it has been an interesting experience. I found it so helpful reading blogs when I was first diagnosed.
I had already been blogging and decided to start a blog specifically about my experience with BC. It really helps me to deal with and process everything that is going on. It also helps me keep friends and family updated when I am so far away. I have been surprised how much supportive feedback and encouragementI have had, especially considering the public nature of a blog.
My original blog is called Feisty Blue Gecko, and so the Breast Cancer experience is called - "Feisty Blue Gecko fights back - a tail of the unexpected". The link is: -

Hi feisty I'll have to google gecko! For reading you might like to google the late wise Jane RA, she didn't have a blog exactly but wrote some great essays on her exeperience and views and various topics to do with bc. She was also feisty and not at all sentimental but spoke from the head and heart. Hopefully her page is still open - Oldie. How are the health services over there? It must feel a bit anxious being so far away with bc.
Lisa Lynch has wrote a brilliant and funny breast cancer blog called "Alright Tit "which ive been following if you havent read it yet but would like to this is the link http://alrighttit.blogspot.com/

If anyone's a user of Twitter, I've pulled together a list of tweeters that you might find helpful or interesting. You can find it here: http://twitter.com/BCCare/helpfulandinteresting. They are a mixture of charities, NHS tweeters, people affected by breast cancer, bloggers and others.
And if you haven't already found us on there, we're @BCCare (http://twitter.com/BCCare).

Oh my, the All Right Tit blog is so well written. I wish I could write like that.
I had my first surgery yesterday and wrote about it on my blog when I got back from hospital - I am also trying to catch up with the events that led to surgery.

Here is another blog you might find interesting.
Bah! to cancer

After reading the brilliant "alright tit" blog, I hesitate to mention my own pathetic outpouring, but it is written from a husband's point of view so might be interesting to some.

(Sorry if it is a bit depressing in places.)
This is great - we are getting quite a list of blogs together, all very different, reflecting the fact that we are all experiencing this differently.
I have been trying to add them all to my blog roll and getting a list together - still working on it! Perhaps this is something we could put on the forum somewhere? Thanks for the Twitter list too - a great resource.
Incidentally, Lisa Lynch's book (based on her Alrighttit blog I think) is coming out very shortly.
Thanks for sharing - and I will keep following.

Oh, jansman, I just whiz-read your blog. Gosh. What a journey!
Hi Paola. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
I have just been reading yours. It is such a wonderfully detailed account - you must have an amazing memory.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
Please can I add my efforts to the list?

Probably not to everyone's liking but all comments appreciated along with any suggestions for improvement!

Thanks for that. I've just had a quick read of the last few posts. I like the way you're trying to deal with talking about the people you meet without using their real names. Dr Socks, Dr Tinkerbell and Dr Boy Scout - the names conjure up a clear image (for me, probably bearing no relation to the reality) - and they sound like people I'd like to hear more about.
Leah
Thank you for the feedback Leah.
When I started writing this I made a decision not to use real names unless I had express permission to do so. The people I've mentioned haven't refused to have their names mentioned .... I just haven't managed to ask if it's ok yet!
Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply.
BF, I just read all of your posts. I am a bit overwhelmed by your diagnosis and treatment, so I don't really know what to say about it.
I like your fresh style of writing. I can't think of how it can be improved. People tend to find blogs when the author comments on other places, like you have here. I hope you get more comments as I know it's great to know that one isn't writing into a void.
I've left a couple of comments and have subscribed to your blog via RSS.
Paola
Thank you Paulo!
I've just added you to "my favourites" so I can read through later this evening when the children are in bed.

Hi Bad Fairy. I was so sorry to read about your diagnosis. I agree with Leah and Paola, the way you have written about it all is so good; you shouldn't change a thing. I've added you to my Blogroll (for what it's worth).
Thank you jansman. I've been reading your blog for a while and must say that it's really helped me. The fact it's written from your point of view helps me to ask the right questions to get Mr BF to talk! So thank you from the heart.
I hope things go well with the latest treatment.

I am following all the blogs that have a follow option.
I have a blog, but its to do with my sculpture. Dont knock it LOL ! its been an amazingly therapeutic messing with my clay hehehe!!
I have thought about doing a BC blog. I am not so good with words as I am with clay though.
Keep up the good work. Those blogs are inspirational.
I am really enjoying following your blogs - Jansman, it is really good to hear the perspective of a husband too. I have not been able to access the blogspot ones yet as that site is blocked here. When I get back to Thailand at the weekend for treatment I will catch up, as well as adding you all to my blogroll. (Once I work out how to do it!)
The thing that strikes me so much is that we are going through a similar illness, but our experiences are so different. I am also convinced that my experience would be a very different one without the blog as an outlet.
Warm wishes from very sunny yangon.
Philippa
Hi Jansman, I to follow your blog with interest as i seem to be going through the same treatment plan as your wife Janet. I always "check" in just to see how she is doing.. I am pleased to read that she is doing so well.
Anne x
Glad I found this thread, will read the blogs over the next few days!
Mine is http://www.shawspinster.blogspot.com
Philippa and Anne. Sorry, I must have missed your posts earlier. Thank you for the good wishes and nice comments. I hope things are going well for you both.
A little update from the Feisty Blue Gecko!
My blog seems to have taken a slight detour the past few days. Being based in Bangkok for treatment and given the turbulence and violence over the past days/weeks, my blog now seems to come from what I jokingly refer to as "Bangkok's Breast Cancer Correspondent". The sad and difficult situation here has been another layer of challenge on top of dealing with BC and the treatment. Amazingly, my treatment so far has not been affected.
On another subject, I have been really glad to make contact with others through the blogs mentioned here, and welcome this support and friendship.
Thanks
Philippa

Hi
Thought you might be interested to see that we've got some buttons you can add to your blog/website/email signature to show you support Breast Cancer Care and to help raise awareness.

Photo of my sculpt on there for the Art project if anyone wants to take a peek.
Thanks - it's good to see it getting out there
I've added it to http://light.ofmylife.org/
Hi Leah. I noticed that the last line is missing from the code for the Mini button (transparent background).
