Breast Cancer Care's secondary awareness campaign
I have just viewed the secondary awareness campaign videos and I would just like to say WELL DONE to Eleanor, Melaine, Clare and Marie. You approached the sensitive subject of living with secondaries in an eloquent and informative way, without dwelling on the negative aspects. I really appreciate you all putting yourselves in the public eye to raise awareness and help others.
Out of interest, are any of you regular posters on the forums?
Thank you to the lovely ladies who gave up their time and privacy to appear in this campaign and Thank You Breast Cancer Care for sponsoring and promoting this much needed campaign.

I second that Nicky. I only found out about this campaign very recently and think the site is great. I have just been asked at short notice to give a speech from a personal perspective at the BCC event in Cardiff to mark the day on Wednesday. It is about a year ago that many women on the secondaries site were trying to campaign for more awareness, support and recognition for those living with secondaries so I am extremely pleased that BCC are doing this this year and really hope that it gets a positive publice response and that we might be able to get through to the politicians that more needs to be done to provide much-needed ongoing support for those coping with secondaries and for their partners and families.
I never thought I'd ever have the confidence to make such a personal speech but I will be thinking of all those who are no longer with us as well as all those living with secondaries right now and hopefully eventually they will know exactly how many people that is in the UK.
Love to all,
Anne
Hi Nicky65,
Where did you view the campaign vidoes, was it on the BCC site?
Cheers, Sandra x

Thanks for your kind words about the secondary awareness campaign.
We're collecting messages of support for people affected by secondary breast cancer (and for the campaign) on the website here http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary-breast-cancer/your-messages/ , if you'd like to leave your message.
We're also asking people to write to their MP to ask them to support people with secondary breast cancer by signing Early Day Motion 771. See more here: http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary-breast-cancer/campaign-with-us/
And don't forget to tell your friends about the campaign too.
Thanks for your support.
Leah
Hi Leah
I have just written to my MP to ask him to sign Early Day Motion 771!
I have also done more than just tell my friends, I am telling the whole city! I have just had an interview with the local paper to raise awareness of secondary breastcancer.
Wow Nicky, that's great! Thank you so much for your support. Hope you get a good response from the article. Which paper was it? (You can send me a private message if you prefer.)
Leah
Bumping.......to remind me!!
I've also written to my MP, who was very supportive in the campaign to get free prescriptions in England for those of us living with cancer. Fingers crossed for a good response to this campaign! xx
Done!
Thanks everyone. We're hoping for some press coverage of Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day tomorrow, starting with BBC Radio Wales at 6.20am (for the earlybirds!). Let us know if you see anything.
Thanks again for helping us raise awareness about secondary breast cancer.
Thanks for the info Leah.
I'm going to be on the BBC Wales Breakfast programme - they just pre-recorded a quick interview with me tonight. Am also going to be speaking at the BCC even in Cardiff tomorrow lunchtime and my local newspaper the South Wales Argus will be doing an interview with me later in the week.
So glad this campaign is happening. Lets hope some of the issues will be addressed.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has been involved with this campaign so far, and everyone who has supported it.
We have had hundreds of messages of support on the website http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary and there was a very productive meeting with MPs yesterday.
You can also see some photos from the photoshoot here http://www.flickr.com/photos/breastcancercare/sets/72157625155040014/ and we'll be putting up more photos from the day soon.
(One of the pictures was also featured on the Metro Online: http://pictures.metro.co.uk/latest-news/445645/Secondary-Breast-Cancer-Awareness-Day)
We're still working hard on this campaign, but I just wanted to give a quick update and a thank you to everyone who has been involved.
