Does anyone know what a - Q score 7 is on histology report
have just been diagnosed with a high grade DCIS, but infortunately they never got a clear 2mm margin and I have to go in again to have a 1 mm shave, ( I'm in the UK and understand that in the US you work to 1 mm margins) I was told that after this second procedure, because it is high grade I will need 3 weeks radiotherapy, however I asked for a copy of the report and although it was not mentioned to me, as they want to take one step at ta time! i read the part about estrogen receptive and it says - Q score 7...can anyone enlighten me on what this means? I have a feeling that it may mean I need to go on Tamoxifen or similar after the treatment.
Thanks in advance

From a quick Google Q score seems to be short for "Quick score" and from what I can see is another measure of oestrogen receptors, from 0-7 where 0-3 is low.
Oestrogen is usally scored out of 8 (or % in the US) so I might be wrong but I can only look at the Google results and can't click through to any websites as I'm at work and most external sites are blocked (not this one though!) so you might want to look further.
I just googled for Oestrogen Q Score if you want to try..
So yes, if you're pre-menopausal you may well have Tamoxifen.
By the way, this is a UK website - you seem to be under the impression that you're on the US one?
