expandable implant port removal

Hi
I've just been given a date to have my port removed (yippee!) but it is on a Friday and my OH is due to go away for the weekend. He is now adamant he won't go - he has given up so much for me over the past six months I don't want him to stay behind unnecessarily... has anyone else had this done?
If I get a girlfriend to stay over that might reassure him - am I likely to need more than just company?

Bump!
Hi Alice. No experience of this but having a friend stay is a good compromise. BCN should be able to reassure OH. hope someone comments who has experience. X
Alice Cliche - sorry wish i could answer your question, mine was removed when i was under the knife, changing from the temporary implant to the permanent one. Certainly in the regard of afterwards there was only minimal discomfort at the site.

I had that done in September at the same time as my new nipple!! Yippee to both!!!
I had a general anaesthetic mid morning and was home about 4pm.... It was a breeze compared to all the previous surgeries but I do think it's always wise not to be on your own after a GA .... But maybe you're having it done under local in which case I'm sure you'll be fine.
Good luck!
PS I still felt as though the port was there for a few weeks after it was removed but now it's great!

Thanks everyone - I've had a chat with BCN and she reassures me I won't have any significant problems afterwards - no need to helicopter in a nursemaid! (It is a local anaesthetic and a couple of stitches).
Also it is good to know I shouldn't expect too much improvement early on - I am desperate to get the thing out so I know what my new normal will feel like!
Thanks again
So how does it feel now, Alice?
mine is being removed on Friday and im having local they said i would be in 15 mins and free to go.
