Models needed
We are looking for people affected by breast cancer to take part in a photo shoot for the new covers of Breast Cancer Care’s patient information booklets.
It is important to us that we feature real people who have been affected by breast cancer in our publications and we’re hoping to recruit around 20 people to feature on the covers of 15 of our booklets. The photos will be of people in everyday situations such as talking to a friend or family member, cooking dinner or walking in a park.
The photo shoot will take place on Thursday May 6, Friday May 7 and Monday May 10 in London. Volunteers would be asked to attend one of these days. We are looking to include people of different ages and cultural backgrounds. There is also opportunity for your friends, family or partner to join you in the photo shoot.
We are particularly keen to hear from:
- someone experiencing hair loss to feature on our ‘Breast cancer and hair loss’ booklet
- someone with a partner who is happy to appear with them on either the ‘In it together: for partners of people breast cancer’ or ‘Sexuality intimacy and breast cancer’ booklet
- someone with a child (around 7-12) to appear together on our ‘Talking with your children about breast cancer’ booklet
- Asian women to appear on our Asian language posters.
Those taking part will work alongside other women affected by breast cancer, a professional photographer and some members of Breast Cancer Care’s Publishing team.
We will provide refreshments on the day and will reimburse travel expenses.

Lucy, it's a shame the sessions are only in London as I would have loved to apply for this. I think anything that raises awareness of this horrible disease is fab!

I agree about it being a shame it's only in London, but appreciate the logistics. I'm in the North East and so travelling to London just isn't an option.

I would have loved to apply as well, with my lovely 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son (both of whom are gorgeous, of course !!). However, they're all school days and we're in Yorkshire, so not really an option...

I am in Scotland but would have loved to have volunteered for this. I am 52 and have two 'kids' 30 and 26 year old, and 2 beautiful grandchildren. London isnt any good for me to far away. Great pity. Sounds good fun.

I would also have loved to volounteer for this, but I'm in Lincs so not really feasible. I did a fashion show about 10 years ago up in the North East at the Tall Trees Hotel in Yarm. There were 22 models including children and we all had some form of cancer. Part of it was shown on Tyne Tees TV. There were 2000 people in the audience and not a dry eye in the house. We raised thousands of pounds for various cancer charities and I must say it was one of the most marvellous experiences of my life. I was on a high for days and will never ever forget it. So anyone who has an opportunity to take part in something like this - go for it, it's wonderful.
