NHS Reforms
Hello everyone,
As you may know, the Government is consulting on their wide-reaching plans to reform the NHS. Their aim is to make services more responsive to the needs of patients. They intend to do this by giving patients more choice in where they are treated and by whom, as well as opening up services to ‘any willing provider’ (including the private or voluntary sector) in order to introduce more competition into the system to drive up standards. In order for patients to make informed decisions, information about the services that are available needs to be meaningful, timely, and accessible.
Breast Cancer Care intends to respond to the two consultation documents that form part of the White Paper. The first is specifically about driving forward patient choice and control, and the other one is about what information patients need to make good choices. Your experiences and thoughts would be extremely useful in informing our response.
The deadline for both surveys is Monday 6th December. Feel free to complete just one of them if you don’t have time to do both.

I have filled in both surveys as I was worried about some of the government's ideas for the health service and I wanted my opinion to be taken into account.

Have filled in both. We cannot afford to have a health service on the cheap. Please take the time to complete the surveys.
Love and take care

Please complete these surveys if you are concerned about the sneaking privatisation of the NHS.
I do not believe that farming patient care out to private companies, charities etc will drive up standards. It will have the reverse effect. (Look at our crappy overpriced privatised railways!)
Please - if you value our NHS then complete these forms and let your opinions be heard.

Have filled in the surveys.
The one thing that strikes me is, that at the moment, there is no efficient communication between hospitals (and departments therin) and my GP etc. If the providers become even more diverse, then this is going to become more difficult.
Whilst I understand value for money is critical, carving up the providers amongst NHS, charities and private companies cannot help this. One would also wonder what the agenda is for the NGO's involved.
Although specifically aimed at me because I have bc, I have answered them with other conditions in mind too. We are fortunate that we have an efficient/high profile NGO to fight for us, this is not necessarily the case for other conditions/illnesses
I think these surveys are really important but warn you that if you have ANY views at all it will take you longer to complete them than is suggested.
At least they have room for views, so many surveys are just tick boxes that don't allow you to express thoughts
COMPLETE this - we have a voice & should use it!!!

Please complete this. Wording of the questions implies privatisation of NHS is firmly on the agenda.

Done, not too bad or time consuming but worrying in many ways!
done!
Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete these surveys.
eilidh7's - I've checked with our Policy Officer, Kiran Dhami, who has confirmed that these surveys apply to England only. Sorry if this is unclear in the survey text.
