PLEASE HELP WITH RESEARCH I have just taken part in the Breakthrough Generations UK study of the causes of breast cancer and would urge as many as possible to do this. All it involves is a questionnaire and optional blood sampling. My doctor told me this was the largest research study into causes being done at the present time.

Please do help if you can.

Hi Judy,
I agree it is SO important to help with any research for breast cancer.
My mum has had the disease twice and I had a masectomy just 7 weeks ago at 36, because of this both my younger sisters have been screened (luckily nothing was found) but we are all going down to London for genetic tests which will hopefully help our family and others in the future.
I have a 2 year old daughter and it breaks my heart to think she might ever have to go through what my mum and me have had to go through so I will do anything to help prevent this happening.
I hope that some of the people reading this message from Judy have got the time to have the blood tests, I know that after everything that you have been through you don\'t want any more needles but it is so important.

I did thisabout 6 months ago when I went for my annual breast cancer check at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. I was asked by my breast surgeon, real easy, just had to see a research gal, fill in a form and take it to my local gp for a blood tests. Duck soup as they would say.
BC study HI Kathelinor,
Don`t know if this is the same study, but i have done a questionnaire and blood test through my oncology research nurse, the title of the study is
A PROSPECTIVE STUDY OF BREAST CANCER TREATMENT OUTCOMES
Its for lady`s who have been dx with breast cancer under the age of 40 and it will follow 2,000 women over 20 years,eg type of dx,treatment, outcomes and reacurence.
the national study co-ordinator is
DR Diana M Eccles, based at Princess Ann hospital, southhampton.
I think we should all try to help these studys as they have help us have the treatment we have recived today and we can help future bc patients get the best treatment, bluebell.
Hi Bluebell,
It\'s not the same study. If you use the link on my posting above you should be able to find details of it.
