Pregnant after breast cancer - worried
Hello All,
I'm not strictly in the right forum but was wondering if any of you might be able to help please.
I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer 2 years ago and had WLE and radiotherapy but declined tamoxifen becuase i wanted to try to concieve. I am now 22 weeks pregnant and am recently experiencing stabbing pains and a sort if itchy nipple to my unaffected breast.
I spoke to my midwife about it who at first said changes due to pregnancy but when i told her that i had had breast cancer she said to monitor it. Is this something i should be going to see my GP about? Any advice greatly received. Thanks.

Congratulations! I can't advise you except to suggest that perhaps you should talk to your BCN as well as your GP? I just wanted to say how lovely it is to hear your good news. xxx
Hi there fhbudd and welcome to the BCC forums
Please feel free to call our helpline for further support and information, the line is open 9-5 in the week and 9-2 Saturdays on 0808 800 6000.
Take care
Lucy
Hi there and congratulations put your mind at rest and talk to your BCN there are so many changes while you are pregnant, I got pregnant after taking tamoxifen for 4 years it doesnt affect your fertility once you stop taking it so perhaps one baby is born you may be able to take it then to give yourself some added protection. I also breast fed on good breast it produced all the milk of 2 breasts good luck love suzan x
Hi there
Many congrats on your pregnancy after breast cancer - I'm 6 years past diagnosis and have a 2.5yr old and a baby.
If I were you, I'd skip the GP and go back to your hospital and ask for a checkup - maybe an ultrasound? The pains are more than likely pregnancy related - my boobs really hurt when they were preparing for milk production. Well worth getting any niggles checked out though and it will probably just put your mind at rest.
Best of luck xxx Jane
Hello ladies,
Many many thanks for your congratulations and your words of advice. Pregnancy is a worrying time anyway but when you link it to cancer, previouis miscarriages and age, its a wonder that i get any rest at all! You're right, i will call the BCN tomorrow and hopefully she will be able to bat away my worries.
Thanks again and hope you're all as well as can be.
