Re: Recurrence/triple Negative

I had an grade 1 hormone positive cancer then a grade 3 TNBC in the other side and now got a recurrence of that one, although it's still classed as TN it's slightly different to the primary as it's grade 2 and has a tad more oestrogen and her2 than last one. Maybe your last one was just under the borderline between negative and positive and this time it's just over.

I do think some cancers are quite smart though and change a wee bit as the treatment reduces the likelihood of them coming back in one form they come back in another.

I think they will try to decide if your is a recurrence or a new primary. A recurrence grows back from the cancer that was there before but a new primary is a completely new cancer altogether. A new primary is less common but tends to occur more in younger with a string family history. Eg gene mutation carriers have about a 50% risk of a second primary but non gene carriers it's around 5%.

Good luck with your treatment. I'm having surgery on Thursday for my recurrence and there is an area from the biopsy which looks previously treated from when I had Chemo and rads 2 yrs ago. So I'm hoping that is a good sign in that it does look like it's responded to treatment so hopefully they can Zapp it for good this time. And yours too!

Love and hugs Lulu xx
