Reflexology Hi Has anybody had REFLEXOLOGY if so what do they think about it.
JanetS
Yes, me Hi Janet
I read good reports of it on this site a few months ago, so when i was told the hospital offered 4 free complentary therapy sessions (of aromatherapy, massage, or reflexology) I jumped at the chance.
I had an hours session and found it very relaxing and uplifting. That having been said, i have also had aromatherpy in the past, and also a reiki \'taster\' session more recently. I have found them all to have similar uplifting effects. I feel with each as if i could just float out of the room afterwards.
The cynic in me asks myself that whatever treatment i had, was it the effect of just laying down in a softly lit room with lovely smells (and extremely relxing music in the case of the aroma and reflxology), and being pampered. i don\'t think its just that, but if it is, who cares - it works for me! That\'s the important thing.
A always give myself a treat between chemo sessions to lift my spirits, and this is my next treat: Am booking another reflexolgy session, and the reflexology pracitioner also does aromatherpy so will split the session 2 ways - half an hour reflexology and half an hour aromatherpy back and shoulder massage. Will be floating home afterwards i think!

PS also booking another short reiki session - was stunned at the results. Nay, baffled. Just had a 20 minute introduction to it, and felt FANTASTIC afterwards (and strangely felt like crying about 5 minutes after she\'d started.). Extremely relaxed and calm, head a bit woozy, and needed to just go and lie down quietly. Very calming.
Hi there I have had reflexology tasters and thought they were marvelous! It left me feeling so relaxed and calm that I felt as if i was floating. Also tried therapies available at my local Haven Centre. Tried Reiki, Aromatherapy massage and Indian Head Massage. All these therapies left me with a sense of calmness within, that I had never felt before.
I suppose some of the therapies available work for others and for some they don\'t. Anyway it is a lovely way to pamper yourself after the stresses and strains of a normal day and dealing with this horrible disease.
Go for it! You\'ve got nothing to lose and enjoy it. At least take the hour off once a week to look after and pamper yourself. Good luck!
much love

Hi janet,
Had my first relexology session 4 weeks ago.
It was so relaxing I fell asleep in the chair!
Also that night I got the best nights sleep since dx.
I paid £40 and the lady cme to my house.
Last week at the chemo unit they offered me 6 free sessions starting on Tues at my local hospital.
Love

I had a reflexology the other week and whilst it was very nice, I didn\'t find it as effective as reiki. That really worked and I felt fantastic for ages afterwards.
But then different things work differently for different people.
Reflexology Hi there Was very interested to read these notes as I am a complementary health practitioner myself (massage, reflexology, aroma etc) and always believed that these therapies would be great to have alongside BC treatments. BUT, when I was diagnosed myself back in 2001 I found that the only one I could face having was reflexology! I had this weekly all through my (long) treatment and found it invaluable on a number of levels. I know everyone is different, but I found the aromatherapy oils stirred up my nausea and whilst I love massage it just seemed to be more poking and prodding around and trying to get comfortable on my front! With reflexology I could immediately relax and the caring touch was so different to the normal examinations etc.. Would definitely recommend it to everyone...
Reflexology Hi Holly11
I too am a complementary health practitioner and agree with you that Reflexology was the only treatment that really helped. I didn\'t have chemo but was very uncomfortable and had blisters with my radiotherapy and so lying down for massage was a complete no-no. I find Reflexology very calming and that I drift away during the treatments, without a care in the world (a really nice feeling at the moment!!).
I\'m sure it helps with the healing process too.
indian head massage For the last two weeks i have been going to have a indian head massage run by my local hospital. if you havent yet tryed it --go for one, you will be amased how relaxing it is and takes away all the stress.
having it done i always think that i am lying on the white sands on the beach so far away only me there and all i can hear is the sounds of the sea, it makes me fall asleep and when i wake up from my massage ,i feel fresh,
I havnt tryed the reflexology one yet but listening to you all thats had it -i will next time .
enjoy your complementary therapies girls.
Bye for now----christine
