Hi Lazydaisy
I will ask the technical team for advice on this.
June, moderator
I agree that the best option would be to have this as a separate category if possible, but the title might still not mean anything to new members, Perhaps it could be called something like 'After Breast Cancer - Disease Free Anniversaries'. Then members could add threads in it for each anniversary and people could post when they've had their annual check up each year.
I'm four months post-rads and still feeling very wary about whether it might come back or worse. To see lots of posts in threads for 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, and even 20 years beyond dx would be amazing. I only saw the NED thread a couple of days ago and it is really heartening to see that so many people have got their lives back on track. I can't look at any of the secondaries threads without tears in my eyes for what people are going through and coping with and, without detracting from that in any way, it would be good to present a bit of the better news too and make it easily accessible for people to read when they need encouragement.

I agree that it would be heartening to hear about all the people who have come through this and and have been free for years, especially new people just starting out on their journey through treatment. Joyce xx
I agree too ladies, and have emailed BCC to see if we can keep the NED thread in a catergory so members can easily find it again. It would be a shame to loose this thread especialy for newcomers to the site.
All the best to you all

If anyone's wondering... the NED thread seems to be here, in "After treatment has finished"
http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26515&p=427524#p427524
Those newly diagnosed with secondaries are unlikely to be NED (though a very few do have a "complete response" to treatment), but it's possible to have stable disease and good quality of life for years. An "anniversary" thread might cover both situations, or maybe we need a separate thread/section for encouragements under Living with Secondary bc.
[Later edit]
There's been an official response from BCC moderator Leah

Oh yes Elsk I'm so with you on this one - Stephanie
Thanks Mandeville - thick or what never noticed that before!!! think my brain has completely turned to jelly -
P.S had an Aunt who had BC in her forties with a second dose abit later - went on to celebrate her 98th birthday - she's the one I focus on.
Hi everyone
In response to the postings on this thread, and some other recent threads about sharing good news, I've put together a survey to gather views in a more ordered way so I can make sure I'm getting the views of a wide range of forum members on this topic.
You can find it here http://www.zapsurvey.com/Survey.aspx?id=29c1cad5-4c65-4e32-9e6a-65f97214c164 (I will also post it under "Your Views" to make sure other people can find it, probably later today).
It's a survey about the broader area of having a space for sharing positive news, as I think a "no evidence of disease" or "anniversaries and checking back in" thread would sit better within that kind of space than as a whole topic by itself. We have to be careful of adding lots of very specific new topics, as it can make the forum difficult to navigate.
But, there's space for you to tell me what you think in the survey. If there are any problems with the survey, do let me know.
Thanks
Leah
