Setting up or editing your profile
Setting up your profile
You can set up a profile on the website to share more information about yourself. You can either do this when you register or later on.
To set up or edit your profile by clicking on Community on the main navigation and then Edit profile

Or when you are on your profile page by clicking edit details

The first part of the screen contains the required information. Note that you can't change your username. If you want to change it, send an email to

Under the optional information you can enter more information about yourself

You can choose which information you want to share with the community by choosing one of three privacy options next to each field:
- private means only you and the Breast Cancer Care moderators will be allowed to see this information on your profile.
- contacts only means only registered users you've added to your list of approved contacts will be able to see this information on your profile
- public means anyone who is registered with the Breast Cancer Care website will be able to see this information on your profile
Note that the address and postcode fields are always kept private as default.
You can add a link to your blog or personal website on your profile. Profiles with inappropriate links will be deleted.
You can add an image, also known as an avatar, to your profile. The profile image is only visible to other registered users. If you are concerned about your privacy, don't upload an image or choose an anonymous image like a landscape or a pet (pictures of cats are very popular!).

To add an image, click on Choose File. This will open a window showing the files on your computer, browse to find an image and click Choose.
The image will be uploaded when you click submit at the bottom of the page. Your image must be a jpg, jpeg, gif or png file. The website should resize the image to fit your profile.
To see your profile, simply click on View profile or on your username which you will see underlined in the bar at the top right of the screen. You can edit and add more information to your profile at any time by clicking on Edit details.
