Standards in diagnosis

Hi
I feel I have been badly let down by my local breast services who dismissed mine and my GP's concern about a palpable lump only for me to be re-referred several months later to find, eventually, that the lump was not in my mind but cancer, even then on a second referral it was three months before I received definitive treatment. This cannot be the standard of care that we should expect surely.
I would like to know if there is anyone out there who has successfully sued a trust for this kind of negligence?
