Surgery within 31 days

Does anyone know if the NHS target to carry out surgery for BC within 31 days of dx is 31 calendar days or 31 working days? Do hospitals receive a financial penalty if surgery is outside this time period?
Thanks all

Hi Lemoncake, Dad has just had thyroid surgery and they quoted the 31 day rule to him. He actually had his surgery on the 31st day!!!! I believe it is calendar days not working days but I don't know about penalties.
I would imagine it counts against them for their star ratings etc etc.
Best of luck to you.

Same thing happened to me - I had my surgery on the 31st calendar day. I was very angry at being kept waiting so long.
They said there was a lack of beds -did they suddenly discover one on the 31st?
Mmm you have to wonder Jeniffer! Dad wasn't on the ENT ward, he was on another ward to begin with, a general ward I believe, and when he woke up he was on a urology ward!!!!
Still the next round is radio iodine treatment so no messing there, one isotope room and 5 days of solitary coming up!
Good luck to everybody on here.
