Why is my scar getting bigger?
It is nearly 9 months since my second WLE to get clear margins. To be honest i have not been bothered about even looking at myself in the mirror until now. I did notice that the shape of my boob is a little odd and what used to be a perfectly reasonable scar seems to have doubled in width. What is going on there? I have lost weight as i regularly exercise and my boob seems to have shrunk even more. I know it is smaller than my other boob (2 cup sizes actually) but it is more noticable now. I don't want to take my clothes off anymore in front of anyone.
Is it too late to start to smothering myself in bio oil? is it normal to loose weight and your scar get bigger?
By the way hello to everyoneXX

Hi there Lady M
Can't advise you on the scar getting bigger but perhaps it's more noticeable now you've lost weight. I do strongly urge you to see your GP or preferably your surgeon so you can have the reassurance you need to put your mind at rest with both the scar and your boob getting smaller. Remember that your surgeon or Onc will have seen many, many women and won't be there to judge your appearance - far from it.
With regard to scarring, I have been told that it takes about 2 years for scars to get to their final appearance/texture - don't know if that's right but 2 people have told me that, one was my physio and the other a massage therapist. From that point of view it may well be worth trying some treatment like bio-oil or a chemical free product but again I'd check with the doctors first or you could ring the helpline for advice on that.
take care, elinda x
Hi Lady M
I don't know how much help I can be ....I read your posting last night and when I saw that nobody had replied this morning I thought I'd have a go.
Could your scar be hypertrophic or keloid ( mine are hypertrophic )? If so it is really unfortunate but only an aesthetic problem. I have tried all sorts of things to make mine better but I think it takes a long time. If I were you I would go to my GP to confirm that is what is going on and see what he/she suggests .....there are several options.
Well done losing weight!!
