Worried, inflammed area on breast
Hi everyone...again
I did write out a post earlier but it seems to have disappeared....so apologies if it does turn up and im repeating myself!
A couple of weeks ago i found a small red tiny'ish lump on the lower part of my left breast, about an inch or so below the nipple. I expected it to turn into a normal spot within a day or two and then i could pop it! (Sorry!
Anyway, two weeks later, its still here and the area is redder, bigger and turning a purple'ish colour. at times it itchy. and it is sorer lately. also sore around the side of the breast and going up towards my armpit.
I went to the GP this morning and he wasnt sure what it was, didnt say much, just gave me antibiotics for 7 days. I was concerned because my aunt had breast cancer. He said to go back if the anti b's do not clear it. i read that infections can happen, but i dont breastfeed and im not a smoker.
Im only 26, so i know i am likely overreacting. i wondered if anyone had any similar stories.
love sam x

Hi . It sounds from your description that you may have a sebacious cyst which has become infected. ( this is not a cancer) Is there a black central spot or a waxy discharge? If it does not clear up then do go back to your GP you may need a Breast Clinic referral. You do not say how old your aunt was when she had her problems, the Helpline could tell you if you are at any risk because of family history. From what you have said so far it is unlikely.
I hope it clears up soon
Cackles
Hi cackles thank you so much for your reply.

Sorry I should have said, my aunt was 41 when she found the lump.
Like you say I'm sure mine isn't cancerous, will keep an eye a d see how the antibiotics go. I think I got scared reading about inflammatory breastcancer as it sounds like my symptoms. The brain and google are dangerous things!
hi samessex1 is your red spot like a blood spot? xtashax
Hi Tasha
Thanks for your reply
No, it was more of just a little lump which became red and sore.
Since taking the antibiotics I've notice the red has reduced some but the little hard lump is still there. X
