Dorothy Perkins

Dorothy Perkins is supporting Breast Cancer Care for the seventh year running. To date, our partnership has raised more than £2.6 million, including an amazing £450,000 in the last year.

Dorothy Perkins is also the retail clothing partner of our Pink Fridays campaign. In 2010 staff held their own Pink Friday, and 10 per cent from sales of all pink products sold were donated to us. Stores supported us throughout 2010 by taking part in a number of fundraising activities including Strawberry Tea, and selling exclusive heart pin badges and our brand new mini nail files.

'We are proud to have raised over £2 million for Breast Cancer Care since 2004. In the last five years we have sold a wide range of products for the charity, from the huge success of the pink wristbands, which raised over £1 million to Christmas decorations, exclusive t-shirt ranges, and the new heart-shaped pin badges. Each October we always sell the pink ribbon pin badges too. The ribbon is such an iconic symbol and it's always a big success with our customers, who we know want a new badge every year.'

Celebrity ‘Stand Tall’ collection

In Novermeber 2010 Dorothy Perkins launched ‘Stand Tall’, an exclusive, limited edition range of shoes designed by Kelly Osborne, Alexandra Burke and Sophie Ellis-Bextor reflecting aspects of their personalities and what inspires them in life.

The shoes retail at £45, with a £10 donation from each sale going directly to Breast Cancer Care.

Kelly Osborne supported this fashion partnership by designing a pair of pink and silver toe-capped shoes covered in gun-metal studs. Talking about her design, Kelly says:

'There’s no denying it, I love fashion! So it was really exciting to be able to design my own pair of shoes. The inspiration for my design was the colour pink as it’s the colour you associate with the breast cancer cause. Breast Cancer Care is a charity that’s close to my heart as I know what great support they offer to the whole family, all of who are affected by this disease.'

Alexandra Burke participated in the successful 2009 Little Tee campaign and is back on board again this year. Commenting on her shoes Alexandra says:

'I loved designing my Little Tee last year so I jumped at the chance to get involved and show my support again, especially as it involved creating my very own pair of shoes! My family has been touched by breast cancer so I really understand the importance of the work Breast Cancer Care does for women with the disease. My shoe design was inspired by the butterfly – it represents new beginnings and freedom. It’s also a bit of a good luck charm for me too. I think we all need a bit of luck sometimes so I’ve tried to create a pair of luscious-looking lucky shoes for all the ladies out there.'
Alexandra Burke

Sophie Ellis-Bextor commented on her fabulous shoes, saying:

'It seems everyone knows someone who has been touched by breast cancer. For me it was my maternal grandmother who sadly lost her battle with cancer when I was just 11. I have very fond memories of my lovely grandma. When Dorothy Perkins approached me about the Breast Cancer Care campaign I thought it was brilliant, as one thing I know for sure is that a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes! How fantastic to have the perfect excuse to treat yourself to another pair. You’ll look great and be supporting a wonderful cause. My shoes are designed to look fun yet sophisticated and the heel is perfect for dancing the night away on. I love them so much I’d be happy to wear them when I perform – I always love a sparkly shoe on stage.'
Sophie Ellis-Bextor

The ‘Stand Tall’ shoes are accompanied by four exclusive T-shirts, available on the Dorothy Perkins website or in their stores.
