What we do
Pink Fridays
About
October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but you can still hold a Pink Friday, so why not get your workmates, friends or family together and have some fun and raise some money for a good cause?
We really appreciate all the hard work and support you, your friends and colleagues give us. When we receive your money, we will send you a thank you letter and personalised certificate stating the amount you have raised.
You can pay in online by clicking the button above for more details of how to send us the money you raised.
A Pink Friday can be whatever you want it to be – as long as it’s pink, it’s fun and it raises money for Breast Cancer Care. And if Friday doesn’t work for you, just pick a day that does. We've got lots of ideas to get you started and downloadable materials to help you promote your event. But before you go any further, please register for your free fundraising kit, packed with stickers, posters balloons and much more.
By unleashing your inner pink, you can help make a difference to those living with breast cancer 365 days a year.
'I've been an ambassador for Breast Cancer Care for five years now and I always look forward to October. It's a chance to get all my friends and family together, have fun and make a real difference. Nearly 4,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this October alone. By holding a Pink Friday party, however small, you will help to ensure Breast Cancer Care can be there for each and every one of them. I'm going to see if I can organise one in the Capital Radio office this year – it's about time they donned some silly pink outfits!'

Why hold a Pink Friday for Breast Cancer Care?
People living with breast cancer need your help today
Every 10 minutes someone in the UK hears the shocking news that they have breast cancer. They’ll probably feel frightened and confused – and their family and friends might need help too.
Breast Cancer Care is an independent charity and we receive less than one per cent of our funding from the government. We are reliant on voluntary donations from individuals and organisations to fund our vital services. This is why you and your Pink Friday are so important to us.
Our services are free thanks to the generous support of people like you. However you unleash your inner pink, the money you raise will make a huge difference to the people who look to us for help.
Thank you. We couldn't do it without you.

Anything goes
Would you like to fundraise money for Breast Cancer Care by organising something unique? Here are some ideas for you.
- Charge an entry fee or sell tickets to your Pink Friday.
- Ask local businesses to donate pink raffle prizes or ask all your friends to bring one gift along (you can download our raffle guidelines to help you with your event).
- A craft or cake stall can be held almost anywhere – indoors or out.
- Sell Breast Cancer Care pin badges to your friends and colleagues at your Pink Friday.
- Why not sponsor someone to wear pink fancy dress at work for the day?
- Our Pin the bra game is a fun and easy way to raise money. Simply print it out and get everyone donating and playing along!
- Indulge yourself and your friends in the name of charity by having the girls over for a pamper evening. Create a spa in your living room and charge everyone £3.
- Raise money with a full house. Invite your mates over for a game of bingo with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care and a prize for the winners.
- Get your boss a pink apron and put them on tea-making duty for the day. Ask everyone at work to pay £2 to have a cup of tea and biscuits served by the boss.
- Take photos of your colleagues in pink disguises and then get everyone to pay £2 to guess who they are and win a prize.
- Get your friends or workmates to bring their old CDs, DVDs or games to your Pink Friday event. Have fun reminiscing over the old classics and at the end of the night donate them to musicMagpie, with all your proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care.
‘I have been living with breast cancer for two years now and have received fantastic support from Breast Cancer Care. When I heard about Pink Fridays I thought it would be a great opportunity to give something back.’

Dress Pink
Pink-up work or school
An easy way to liven up your office or school for your Pink Friday is to get everyone to donate £2 and ask them to wear pink for the day. This could be a pink pair of socks for the reserved types among us or a top-to-toe pink outfit for those who really want to unleash their inner pink.
Love parties? Love fancy dress?
Why not hold a fancy dress party with a pink theme? You could ask your guests to make a donation and have a prize for the best costume.
'I had a Pink Party where we drank pink drinks and wore pink outfits. One of my friends is a beauty technician so she did our nails professionally, in pink of course, and we all made a donation in return.'
Sarah, Birmingham
Dressing up box at school
All ages can join in by paying a donation to choose a fancy dress item to wear all day in class.
Play it pink
Are you a member of a sports club or team? You could play a Pink Fridays match with pink kit and ask spectators to pay to watch. Advertise your event using our Pink Fridays fancy dress poster or schools poster from our event resources.
Pink Fridays T-shirt
Our limited edition T-shirt is available in sizes S-XXL and costs £8 each, including P&P. To order, simply call 0870 164 9422 and pay by debit or credit card.
Why stop at pink clothes?
If you really want to unleash your inner pink, how about getting sponsored to dye your hair pink?
Need a pink outfit?
Head down to Dorothy Perkins, official retail clothing partner of Pink Fridays, on 28th October when they are holding their Pink Friday events.
Dorothy Perkins have proudly been supporting Breast Cancer Care for 6 years, and in that time have raised over £2.68 million.
Eat pink
Who doesn't love cake? Our sweet tooth always gets that little bit sweeter on a Friday.
Are you the hostess with the mostess?
Why not cook a three-course dinner and invite your friends to come dine with you – in return for a donation to Breast Cancer Care of course. You could even theme your menu around the colour pink – prawns, salmon, trifle… the possibilities are endless.
Milk, no sugar, please
Get your boss a pink apron and put them on tea-making duty for the day. Ask everyone at work to pay £2 to have a cup of tea and biscuits made by the boss.
Fill a jar with sweets
Get people to donate £2 to guess the amount of sweets in the jar. The person with the closest guess keeps the sweets.
Cake sale
Get baking for friends, family, classmates or colleagues. We think the fancier your cake, the more you can charge for it!
'By opening our house up for a Pink Party in the evening, we were able to invite family and friends. We charged a £3 entrance fee (£1 for kids) for a cup of tea and a bun. Guests could then spend more money on the bring and buy cake stall, raffle, tombola and face-painting.'
Nicola, South Yorkshire
Bake-off
Do you make magnificent muffins or know someone who cooks terrific tarts? Hold a pink bake-off to see who the best baker is, then sell or raffle the treats.
The perfect Pink Friday cupcake
For 20-ish cakes, you will need:
- 125g soft unsalted butter
- 125g caster sugar
- 2 beaten eggs
- 225g plain flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 100ml milk
Preheat your oven to 180°C/gas mark 4. Cream together the butter and sugar (if you have an electric whisk, whisk until the mixture is pale and fluffy). Slowly add the beaten egg, mixing as you go. Fold in the sifted flour and baking powder. Add the milk and keep stirring until smooth. Spoon your cake mixture into paper cases laid in cake tins. Bake for 20-25 mins until tops are golden and a knife goes into the mixture and comes out clean. Cool before you add your topping.
Party Pink
We think Friday is definitely the best day of the week to let loose and have a good time. Here are a few ideas to get you in the party mood as you can have a Pink Friday party almost anywhere!
Girls night in
Invite your friends over for a pamper party or chick flick night – all for a Pink Fridays price, of course!
Pink Fridays night out
If you're more of a party-after-dark-girl then make it a Pink Fridays night! Head to a karaoke club and asks your friends to make a donation per song or organise a free venue and sell tickets to your own party.
‘Pink Fridays are always great fun (they have held Pink Fridays for the past three years) and approached very positively and with lots of enthusiasm. Everyone enjoys dressing in pink, including the men! We have had personal contact with breast cancer via our club members. We are committed to Breast Cancer Care and recognise its valuable work throughout society.’
Maureen and Michelle Jones, Walk this Way line dancing club Wolverhampton
Have you got the x-factor?
Contests are a great way to have fun and raise extra cash at your party. How about a karaoke competition or a dance-off? Charge £2 to enter and offer a prize for the winner.
Zumba fever
If you’re a Zumba fan you could ask your instructor to make your class pink for the day and have your own pink fitness party.
Get raffle ready
Why not hold a tombola or raffle? Ask local businesses to donate prizes and charge £2 a ticket.
Under the hammer
Ask everyone to donate a pink item and auction them off.
Party games in the classroom
Use the last hour of the day for a mini Pink Fridays party in the classroom. Why not play games like pin the tail on the Pink Fridays pig, or pass the Pink Fridays parcel?
'Well, my lovely daughters, all our girly friends and I will be preening and pampering ourselves at our Pink Fridays pamper-yourself-silly party! There will be pedicures, manicures, massages, face masks and all things pink and decadent at this wonderful affair! Get yourselves looking absolutely gorgeous in time for the weekend and just think, because it's for such a great cause you'll be left feeling beautiful inside as well!'
Vanessa Feltz party tip
Stop work an hour early
A great excuse to shut down your computer and spend time with your workmates. You could also hold a quiz night and charge for pink food and drink in-between rounds.
If you are having a Pink Fridays party, download our fab pink party poster to tell everyone about it. We also have a poster especially for schools to download.
