About

The Renaissance photographic competition is now in its fifth year and has raised over £150,000 for Breast Cancer Care's Lavender Trust.

Renaissance Photography Prize

The competition is now live and open to everyone – both amateur and professional photographers. It provides entrants with the opportunity to have their photographs judged by some of the most acclaimed photographers in the industry.

Judges include:

  • Michael Hoppen, gallery owner and photographer 
  • Monica Allende, Picture Editor of The Sunday Times Magazine
  • Brett Rogers, Director of The Photographers' Gallery
  • Mary McCartney, portrait and fashion photographer
  • Brigitte Lardinois, curator and Associate Director of the Photography and the Archive Research Centre at the University of the Arts, London.

All proceeds from the competition go to Breast Cancer Care's Lavender Trust, supporting young women with breast cancer. 

Prizes

The overall winner of the competition will receive the Renaissance Prize of £3,000. The winner in each category will receive the category prize of £500, and the best entry on film will win £1,000 worth of camera equipment.*

Winners and highly-commended entries will receive a free double ticket to the private preview

And for 100 finalists, there is the additional benefit of exposure with a week-long exhibition in a leading London gallery where your work will be sold (you'll even get a share of the proceeds).

All of last year's winning entries can be viewed on the Renaissance Photography website. This year’s competition categories include: expression, environment, memory, disorientation, perspective.

 

*All prizes are available in US dollars for international entrants (currency conversion at prevailing rates). 

How to enter

The entry fees are: 

  • £15 for a single image
  • £25 for up to 3 images
  • £40 for up to 6 images.

1720 The entry fee can be paid by credit or debit card using PayPal, and your entry fee goes to The Lavender Trust to support younger people with breast cancer.

Entries must be in by 10pm GMT on the 24 February 2012.

The winners will be announced at an exclusive private preview on 13 June 2012 at The Mall Galleries.

Venue

Hold your summer party at London’s prestigious Mall Galleries, and support Breast Cancer Care's Lavender Trust.  

1731 This is a unique opportunity to hire the Mall Galleries, London SW1 at a reduced rate during the Renaissance Photography Prize 2012 exhibition.

  • Design your own event in this flexible, elegant and very central space with capacity for up to 400 (standing reception) or 200 (sit down dinner). 
  • A private view for your guests – the 100 prize-winning images on display add interest and makes a good talking point. 
  • First class facilities included; front-of-house staff, PA system, lighting, kitchen, cloakroom.

About Renaissance

Renaissance was founded by Fiona Gifford, a 36-year-old lawyer and keen amateur photographer who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. She has built Renaissance into the successful event it is today and plans to continue developing Renaissance year on year to fulfil her passion to fundraise for younger women with breast cancer.
