Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire Pink Ribbonwalk – Saturday 9 June
Cholmondeley Castle
From the beautiful grounds of Cholmondeley Castle we can explore the green pastures and charming villages of the Cheshire countryside. The circular routes also encompass the woodland trails and breathtaking views from the Peckforton Hills.
20 mile route
Average walking time: 7 to 10 hours walking including rest stops
The day begins in the landscaped grounds of Cholmondeley Castle. The trail then takes us past fields of grazing horses along peaceful farm tracks with views of the Peckforton Hills and the red sandstone towers of Peckforton Castle. Once at the village of Beeston we venture south on the Sandstone Trail, joining a scenic section along the mid- Cheshire Ridge. The path meanders along the ridge line, treating us to magnificent views in both directions before taking us over Bickerton Hill and back towards Cholmondeley.
10 mile route
Average walking time: 3 1/2 to 5 hours walking including rest stops
The 10 mile route sets off in the same direction as the 20 mile route. After leaving Cholmondeley gardens we break off along a different trail heading north west. At the base of Bickerton Hill we join the 20 milers and follow the same route back to Cholmondeley Castle.
