Tree-lined paths, picturesque villages and the glorious estates of Cowdray and Petworth make this walk through the South Downs a truly memorable and rewarding experience. 

20 mile route

Average walking time: 6 to 9 ½ hours walking including rest stops

The day begins infront of the vast 17th century Petworth House at our event village by the splendid boating lake. Following sections of the Serpent Trail, the path leads steadily up as we traverse the lower slopes of Bexley Hill, before dropping down into the Rother Valley and the Cowdray Estate. We then cross the River Rother before returning to Petworth Park via several pretty villages.    

10 mile route

Average walking time: 3 to 5 hours walking including rest stops

The 10 mile route has the same beginning and end as the 20 mile route. At the village of Lodsworth, where the 20 milers continue west towards Bexley Hill, we turn south and link back in to the 20 mile route on the return to Pitshill and Petworth.

Where

The event starts and finishes in the grounds of Petworth House and Park, situated on the outskirts of Petworth on the A272 between Petersfield and Billinghurst.

Travelling from London – follow the A24 until Horsham. Take the A264 to Billinghurst and the A272 signposted to Petworth.

Travelling from Brighton – follow the A23 towards Crawley. At the A272 junction turn west to Petworth via Billinghurst.

Travelling from Portsmouth – follow the A3 to Petersfield. Turn east on the A272 to Petworth via Midhurst. 

When

The 20 mile Pink Ribbonwalk starts at 9.15am with a ceremony and warm-up. Participants set off at 9.30am. Entry to the grounds is from 8.30am.

The 10 mile Pink Ribbonwalk starts at 11.45am with a start ceremony and warm-up. Participants set off at 12.00am. Access to the start venue is from 11.00am.

Parking

Parking will be available in the grounds of Petworth Park. Parking directions and a car park pass will be provided in your final pack. Please share cars where possible to reduce congestion.
