Carrying the torch for Breast Cancer Care
On Friday we were both proud and excited to see Anne Shingler, a long time supporter of Breast Cancer Care, carry the Olympic torch through Blaenavon, Wales.
Anne was nominated as a torch bearer because of the amazing work she has done for us. She has taken part in sporting fundraising events, helped raise awareness about secondary breast cancer and modelled at our Cardiff fashion show in 2010. She has spoken at many events and met with senior politicians, trying to influence positive changes for people living with breast cancer.
While Anne was speaking at one of our events, a woman who had been diagnosed with breast cancer remarked: ‘I never thought life could be like this again .. it’s absolutely inspirational.'
Anne’s moment was mentioned on the BBC news website and you can read the full story of her nomination on the Olympic torch bearer’s website.
We would like to thank Anne for all the time and effort she given us over the years. If you would like to support her and her involvement in the Olympic journey you can sponsor her through her JustGiving page.
