Discussing the news that one in four women in the UK don’t check their breasts and many would delay seeking help, Carolyn Rogers, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Breast Cancer Care, says:

“This poll reiterates what women tell us on our helpline every day - many are uncertain about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and, unfortunately, are often hesitant about reporting a breast change.

“And while most changes won’t be cancer, we know that early detection of breast cancer can mean more effective treatment.

“So whatever your age, it’s vital to get to know your breasts, and if you do spot anything unusual – be it a lump, dimpling or an inverted nipple - get it checked out by your GP. Anyone with any questions or concerns can call Breast Cancer Care’s expert nurses on 0808 800 6000.”
