Director of Fundraising and Partnerships - Steve Lucas

With over 35 years’ experience, Steve has held a variety of leadership, commercial and strategic roles across a breadth of sectors including retail, entertainment, sports, fashion and FMCG. Most recently, he spent almost six years as at Pentland Brands, before joining Breast Cancer Care in 2017. Steve will lead the new Fundraising Directorate to deliver an ambitious fundraising programme for the new charity, including, events and community fundraising, major philanthropists, corporate partnerships and trusts. His role will also incorporate key relationship-building functions such as database, supporter engagement and stewardship.

Director of Corporate Services - Polly McGivern

Director of Corporate Services – Polly McGivern

Polly has worked across a range of sectors and held a number of significant posts, including Director of Finance at UCL Partners and Deputy Treasurer for TRH The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, where she also held the post of Finance Director to the Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation. Polly will lead the Corporate Services Directorate across critical support areas including finance, facilities, IT, legal, compliance and risk, as well as people and organisational development.

David was previously General Manager for Central and South West England for Macmillan Cancer Support, and prior to that worked in social housing for 22 years. The Services Directorate will provide services to support the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer, and the care and support of people affected by breast cancer across the UK. David’s role will incorporate services development and delivery, services improvement, public health and wellbeing, and volunteering.

Before joining Breast Cancer Care 14 years ago, Emma worked as a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist in the NHS and was awarded a CBE in June 2014 for services to people affected by breast cancer. Emma will lead the charity’s health information and nurse-led services, including the Helpline, providing expert support for all those affected by breast cancer and breast health concerns.

Director of Communications and Influencing - Fiona Hazell

Director of Communications and Influencing – Fiona Hazell

Fiona brings over 20 years of marketing, communications and campaigning experience from the corporate and charity sectors, working for KPMG, Camelot and the BBC, before joining the charity sector in 2002. Fiona worked for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign, before helping lead the merger in 2015 to form Breast Cancer Now. Fiona will lead the Communications, Influencing Directorate to deliver the charity’s critical communications and influencing work to ensure the new charity and the voices of all those affected by breast cancer are kept firmly on the agenda. Fiona’s role will incorporate policy, evidence and influencing; brand, marketing communications; Press and PR, Celebrity and Digital.

Director of Research – Dr Simon Vincent

Director of Research – Dr Simon Vincent

Simon has over 17 years’ experience in research management. He has a PhD in Genetics from Nottingham, and post-doctoral experience gained at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund laboratories in London. He worked in a number of areas in Cancer Research UK, including looking after the charity’s fellowship funding. Simon will lead the Research Directorate, driving forward world-class, impactful research to find new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat breast cancer for all those affected by the disease, and help deliver the charity’s ambition that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live and live well.
