Frances hosted her Afternoon Tea after recieving support from Breast Cancer Care during her treatment.

Frances on her Afternoon Tea

I was diagnosed with breast cancer after having a routine mammogram in November 2017. My doctor reassured me that as it had been caught early, my diagnosis would just be a blip in my life.

I had surgery and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. My breast care nurse gave me a folder with information from Breast Cancer Care. It contained everything I needed to know.

I wanted to support the charity who had helped me so much through my treatment, so I held my first Afternoon Tea last year.

I invited friends and family, asking them for contributions to the spread and the raffle.

The sun shone brightly as we arranged tables in my garden. There were sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones and of course, cake!

We raised £912 in total. It was a joint effort and my top tip would be to ask for help. If people are are willing and happy to join in to make your event a success.

I thought that my Afternoon Tea would be a one off, but people have already asked me to hold another!

Join Frances this July and have an Afternoon Tea to help us be there for more women and families facing breast cancer.
