Whatever the question, concern or issue, people affected by breast cancer often find talking to someone who has been there a great source of information and support.
Our one-to-one support service Someone Like Me puts people in touch with a trained volunteer who’s ready to share their experiences and understanding over the phone. It gives people with breast cancer a chance to talk openly, away from family and friends, with someone who understands what they are going through.
To become a support volunteer for Someone Like Me you need to have had a personal diagnosis of primary breast cancer, have been diagnosed as a gene carrier or have a partner who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer.
By sharing my own experiences, I can help other women – they’re often relieved to find out that other people go through the same issues and it’s not just them. I get as much from providing one-to-one support as I hope I give to other people. It’s so nice to be able to make a difference.A Someone Like Me volunteer
