About the course

This event is currently full and we have started a waiting list. If you would like to be added to this list, please e-mail youngerwomen@breastcancercare.org.uk with a mobile phone number, so we can contact you at short notice if a place becomes available.

On 15 and 16 June 2018, come to a Younger Women Together event and meet other women under 45 who’ve been diagnosed with primary breast cancer. You’ll have the chance to talk, to share and be yourself – away from the pressures of everyday life.

Younger Women Together events run over two days, and offer the chance to hear from experts on a wide range of topics. Events usually take place in a hotel with accommodation and meals included, allowing you plenty of time to relax and get to know the other women who attend.

Each event includes whole group sessions and a choice of small group sessions. Topics such as medical management of breast cancer in younger women, fertility after treatment and breast surgery and reconstruction are information focussed, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Other sessions such as intimacy and sexuality, and relationships and communication tend to be more discussion based, and are a chance to begin to explore the impact your breast cancer has had on these areas of your life.

Support is available throughout the event from our Younger Women’s Nurse, and from trained Someone Like Me volunteers who have all experienced breast cancer as younger women.

Group of women getting support
I was slightly apprehensive going along to one of Breast Cancer Care’s Younger Women Together events as I didn’t know what to expect, but I was so glad that I made the effort to go. The event was fun, very informative and I made some new and lasting friendships too.
